The Althaia Costa Este is a hazy, "juicy" NEIPA that captures the freshness of the Spanish east coast in a glass. This beer is known for its silky mouthfeel and an explosion of tropical aromas such as mango, pineapple, and citrus. ALTHAIA Costa Este: The hazy pride of the Mediterranean

With 'Costa Este', Cervezas Althaia pays tribute to the New England style, but with an unmistakable Spanish twist. While traditional IPAs often focus on a sharp bitterness, this NEIPA is all about the "juicy" character. By using oats and wheat in the grain bill, the characteristic haze is created along with an almost creamy mouthfeel that glides over the tongue like a gentle sea breeze.

The brewing process is technically challenging; the hops are added at specific moments to preserve the fruity oils without extracting harsh bitterness. The result is a beer that smells like a basket full of tropical fruit and tastes like pure summer. It is unfiltered and vibrant, just as a craft beer should be.

Flavor & character

Nose A heady bouquet of ripe passion fruit, fresh mango, and juicy mandarins. Upon pouring, the space is immediately filled with the scent of citrus and a light floral note.

Palate The mouthfeel is full, soft, and almost creamy. The flavor is dominated by tropical fruits and a hint of peach, supported by a mild, cracker-like malt base. The bitterness is very limited, making the drinkability extremely high.

Finish A short, fruity finish that flows cleanly and leaves a refreshing, juicy sensation in the mouth.

Pure enjoyment

  • Serve the Costa Este preferably in a wide tulip glass at a temperature between6°C and 9°C.

  • Drink this beer as fresh as possible; the volatile hop aromas that make this type of beer so special are at their peak then.

  • Pairs fantastically with modern fusion cuisine: think ceviche with mango, sushi with spicy tuna, or Thai salads.
